Red Rose

October Rose

This was taken at 7 pm just before sunset.  I'm learning that taking flower photos is all about the position of the flower in relation to the sun.  It's been impossible for me to photography any "red" flower, but for some reason this timing worked.  The photo was shot with a telephoto lens on the Canon T3i.

Pink Rose

September Rose

This photo was taken with a telephoto lens zoomed in on automatic setting from about 10 feet away.  The sun was an hour from setting.  The Canon Rebel T3i was used.  It is rare to find a rose that is perfect like this one.

Red Rose

Red Rose

This rose was basically the only rose about to bloom in an entire rose garden.  The photo taken on automatic setting in the early morning hours, needed some help.  I cropped it and added a frame.  The actual photo was not interesting, so that's when an artistic mind takes over.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Canon Rebel T3i was used for the photo.

Row of Daylilies

Red Magic Daylilies

Well, I wasn't sure how to edit this one.  After several angles from the sun and camera positions in the yard, I decided to give up and just make a long bookmark of daylilies.  This is stunning to look at, but doesn't photograph well.  I darkened the edges and bumped up the vibrance. I'll try individual shots at a later date.

Evening Daylily

Jovial Daylily

This was angled perfectly to capture the last light before sunset.  Most of the time, I take photos of day lilies in the morning.  This was slightly cropped and then darkened around the frame.

Daylily

Children's Laughter

This daylily was taken in morning light with the Canon Rebel T3i.  The only adjustment made was a slight crop of space on the bottom of the photo.  This flower is very large and has great color.

Shasta Daisy

Sprinkles on Daisy

This was taken with the Canon Rebel T31 on automatic setting.  It rained this morning, so there are a few remaining drops on the petals. The photo was taken with full sun, but in the direction of the shadows of the wood fence.  That made the background dark.  I cropped out surrounding leaves and flowers to make this work.

Pistol and Stamens

Asiatic's Six Stamens and a Pistol

Once again, I will note that bright colors are difficult to photograph.  Taken with a Canon T31 Rebel, about 10 feet away with a telephoto lens zoomed in.  And, cropped to view the stamens and pistol.  This could've been achieved with the macro setting, but I've found this to be more effective.

Asiatic Lily

Bright Orange Bloomer

This is the first bloom of the season, and even the insect on the petal appreciates it this morning.  We got three inches of rain last night, so I was glad to see that it waited to bloom today.  No editing on this one except for a minor crop on the left side.  Orange and red flowers are always difficult to photograph.

Coneflower Art

Sepia Coneflower

I posted this photo at an earlier date in it's original state.  I processed it for a wall hanging in my living room by experimenting with sepia and frosted framing.  The original was too vibrant and I wanted a different look. This is a very cheap way to decorate, and I usually have a series of three photos for a wall.  This photo was taken with a fuji finepix.
